There is SO SO much going on in the Orlando area this week. Get out and experience something new!

- This Wednesday, the Latin American Musical In the Heights opens at Orlando Shakes. Fun fact, this musical was written by Lin Manuel Miranda before he crafted 'Hamilton'.

- Running through September 24, go see Shrek the Musical at Breakthrough Theatre of Winter Park where the green one invites you to "Stay off my swamp!"

- Get your salsa shoes. Bachata Downtown is Friday night at The Balcony Orlando. Dance classes start at 8!

- Lastly, the award-winning Gypsy is at Garden Theatre continues its run until September 16.

What's your favorite arts event in Orlando? We've brought you five of ours, all happening this week. 

- Enjoy Star Wars: Return of the Jedi like never before. This Saturday at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing the music live, while the scifi fantasy classic is projected above them.

- In a jazzy mood? Thursday, The Tal Cohen Trio presents “Gentle Giants” at Timucua Arts Foundation White House. 

- Friday, the Central Florida Community Arts Orchestra & Choir presents "We The People," featuring performances of patriotic songs.

- Finally, burlesque musical "Gypsy" opens this weekend at Garden Theatre.

ORLANDO! There's so much art to experience this week. Don't let it go unappreciated. (Art gets sad when it goes unappreciated.)

- This Saturday, UCF Flying Horse Editions: The Art of Collaboration opens at Atlantic Center for the ArtsFlying Horse Editions is a collaborative research studio for visual artists at the University of Central Florida. It offers visiting artists the opportunity to work with FHE technicians to push the boundaries of their work.

- This Thursday is 3rd Thursday Orlando. Get out and experience tons of free art all thorughout Downtown Orlando. 

- Friday, Snap! Orlando opens their Summer / Fall 2018 Exhibition at the 420 East location. This year 40+ Florida artists are showcasing their work. 

- Lastly, have you been to Adults-Only Science Night Live? Every second Saturday, Orlando Science Center throws a 21+ event where visitors can do experiments, stargaze through telescopes, and watch movies in their theater all while enjoying adult beverages.

There's no excuse to stay home this week. Get out and experience something!

The Orlando arts community has never been stronger. Now is the time to get out and experience something amazing!

- You do not want to miss 'The Pirates of Penzance' from Central Florida Community Arts. It's a musical comedy about pirates and runs through August 26. 

- This past weekend, Orlando Museum of Art opened a new exhibit, 'Zen Tales', featuring the work of comic and children's book illustrator Jon J Muth. 

- The Central Florida Community Arts Classical Choir has a concert this Friday at 7 p.m. at Maitland Presbyterian Church

- Lastly, Timucua Arts Foundation hosts Argentinian Music for Flute and Piano this Sunday.

- Experience one of the best jazz player's in the country, this Wednesday, when Jeff Rupert Quartet plays the Blue Bamboo Center For The Arts.

National Dance Day Orlando begins this Friday at noon with the NDDO Kickoff Event at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

- Then all day Saturday, National Dance Day Orlando 2018 continues with all different types of dance classes for all experience levels.

- This Sunday, Opera Orlando hosts Opera on Park featuring Alex Mansoori.

'This Week In Art', we focus on two beautiful Winter Park buildings, Cornell Fine Arts Museum and The Alfond Inn, and the historic art that is held within them. Enjoy.

- If you haven't been to The Cornell yet, now is the time to explore. This Thursday, they're conducting a guided museum tour.

- Also in Winter Park, The Alfond Inn features works from the Cornell's contemporary art collection. This Thursday is Bach at The Alfond | Chuck Archard - Classical Jazz

- Wednesday at The AbbeyOrlando Story Club: What a Mess! features true stories being told by regular Orlandians.

'This Week In Art' we're bringing you a wine walk, a play from a local legend, and an important exhibit at the Holocaust Center.

- All this summer, the Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center of Florida is hosting an impactful exhibition exploring scientific knowldege and personal freedom called 'Deadly Medicine'.

- July 14 & 15, see Destination Moon, a play by Joseph Reed Hayes at Timucua Arts Foundation. “Destination Moon” tells the story of a young woman coming back to health, attempting to deal with the consequences of her new reality by forming a relationship with a disembodied voice in the night; a veteran late-night radio personality.

- July Fourth, there's a ton going on! The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park host the 23rd Annual 4th of July Celebration, featuring FREE admission to the The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American ArtCity of Orlando - Government hosts Fireworks at the Fountain at 9:30 p.m at Lake Eola Park.

- Friday, Garden Theatre starts their run of Xanadu with shows happening all month long.

- You do not want to miss the Mr. Rogers documentary, Won't You Be My Neighbor?, at the Enzian Theater.

- Currently at Orlando Museum of Art, artists from all over the state are on display at the 5th annual Florida Prize in Contemporary Art Exhbition.

- This Thursday, is Third Thursday all across the Downtown Arts District. There are more than a dozen galleries and museums you can check out for free.

- Thursday, Vivacity Cd Release Party! at Timucua Arts Foundation. Orlando big band Vivacity Music features musicians on horns, saxophone, and even xylophone.

- Friday, Harry P. Leu Gardens hosts it's first Friday movie night featuring 'Jumanji'. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for kids.

- Lastly, this Friday & Saturday Emotions Dance Company present Twist- The Color Wheel at Orlando Shakes. Twist is a fun and funky performance using contemporary, jazz, modern, and ballet dance.

Week 2 of Orlando Fringe Theater Festival 2018 is underway. With over 700 shows, you might be having some trouble finding the one for you.

- 'Gorgeous' : A musical for middle-America based on "Drop Dead Gorgeous". 

- 'To Be Happy' : An endearing show about two brothers finding love in their own way.

- 'Meet The Replacements' : A scifi about a man trying to get closer to his family by building them.

- 'An Excruciatingly Ordinary Toy Theater Show' : A show where the main actor projects scenes built into cardboard boxes to immerse the audience in the story.

- Tuesday, Uncorked at The Abbey, Orlando Balletwill let you get up close and personal with some of the performers from the Orlando Ballet Company and School.

- Saturday and Sunday, the African American Masterpieces: Symphonic Spirituals, in collaboration with The Bethune-Cookman University Concert Chorale, performers work by three of the 20th centuries most influental black composers.
